We had our first English corner tonight and over 200 students came! English corner is just a place where students come once a week to talk to foreign teachers for an hour about different topics. I felt like a superstar and I took at least 50 selfies with the students. The foreign teachers (there are 7 of us) had to stand in front of the students and introduce ourselves. Many of my students that I have came to English corner. When it was my turn to introduce myself they started chanting “kasey kasey kasey” before I started talking, and soon all 200+ students started to chant my name. It was crazy, exciting, and something I’ll never forget. I wish I had videoed it. I spent the next hour answering random questions (do you have a boyfriend, do you like Chinese food, why did you come to china…) in English. Overall it was a lot of fun and I felt like a celebrity for a night.

Be sure to get a video of it next time ;D

I snagged this shot of Hasana in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. I told the sister it would take us 3 minutes to shoot. I actually got this shot in 2 snaps. We were all excited about how nice it turned out. It’s always easy to grab a good snap when the subject is as fun and stylish as she was. That’s the case with most of the people I’ve captured thus far, all fun & stylish!

Hey, what’s going on everybody? I just started classes this week, yowza! I’m taking time this week to do some of my own picks before we start requests back up, and I promise not to disappoint!

For your Monday, we have a nice classic tune, coming from the second Sonic game! The moment I heard this, I really fell in love with it when playing Sonic 2. Combined with going faster than the camera and all the little nooks and crannies you can race through, it really made the stage. The bass work is really fantastic, a huge driving force along with the percussion. I love the melody, the staccato parts and the long lines provide some nice contrast. There’s a bunch of comping going on throughout as well, taking from the opening riff, tying everything together. And then that huge crescendo before the turnaround, hitting that high not and really bending on it, so cool! I can see a fresh combo doing this, with a sax in the lead and really ripping through those lines. I like to practice along to this song, and it’s a hell of a lot of fun! Just watch out for all the purple water.

If you want to see me dance like a fucking maniac without a care in the world, this song will do the trick. It’s so great, nostalgic, and ENERGETIC! :D
